Images of Dundee Beach and surrounds
Dundee Beach—due to its remote location—maintains a unique diverse environment with monsoon rainforests, flora and fauna, mangrove wetlands, sandy beaches and rocky rugged coastline that naturally blend into the turquoise waters of the Timor Sea. Simply put, Dundee Beach is a slice of paradise that lifts the spirits of locals and visitors alike.
The vibrance, energy, landscape and lifestyle are all equal qualities of this small remote town that both myself and my partner Fiona fell in love with and are fortunate to live in. We believe in appreciating every moment so that each day leaves a positive impression to flow into the following day. This is the foundation that drives our creative passions. Through my photography and Fiona’s plein air oil painting, we interpret and express the present as its unfolding before us.
After the long hot dry season, the first drenching rains of the Build Up Storm season, Dundee Beach virtually transforms overnight. New growth explodes in the forest and the dry season blue skies fill with dramatic convection of storm clouds that seemingly grow right out of the surrounding landscape. With high temperatures and soaring humidity, the moisture in the air amplifies colours which needs to be seen to be believed. Sunsets become mind blowing and the colours just after sunset dazzle with every colour of the rainbow.
These times when all aspects of the environment shine at their best aren't every day, never lasting more than a few minutes with those lucky enough to experience them never forgetting them.
Our photographs share some of the rarest of Dundee’s extreme beauty. We hope that our photography creates lasting memories for those who have witnessed these great visual displays and to capture the imagination of those yet to see nature working beautifully in such extremes.
Photography catalogue
We sell limited edition prints. Each image has a 15-print maximum across the Medium, Large and Extra-Large high gloss aluminium format (with one of those kept in our own archive).
The photos are printed into aluminium that enhances the impact and intensity of the moment.
Our images are single shot captures, in large file RAW format, edited into TIFF files.
Technique
Each photo is carefully selected from thousands of onsite hours in and around Dundee. The collection curates images that align with the purpose of our passion: a belief in nature’s intelligence and its boundless energy.
No part of Nature is of less or greater importance–this we show by using varied focus points but with emphasis on the main subject.
Movement is constant in nature–whenever possible our images emphasise nature’s effortless flow in the main elements of flora, water, and cloud formations.
Philosophy
We believe that energy is the foundation of all life. The energy, both knowing and curious, steers nature in all its forms in constant evolution; reading off the same page at the same time. This view on life guides our art practices and allows us to harness the impressions left upon us today knowing they can be observed with a different view tomorrow.
